Kristin Hannaford is a Queensland poet. Her new poetry collection Fragile Context (August 2007) is published by Brisbane based Post Pressed. Her first collection Inhale appears in Swelter (Interactive Press 2003) as part of IP’s Emerging Author Series.
In 2007 Kristin was a tutor for the Queensland Writers Centre, presenting
‘Bootcamp’ poetry workshops with Ross Clark in
regional Queensland.
She will be the Regional Liaison Officer (Rockhampton) for the QWC for 2008. Kristin’s poetry and short fiction appear
most recently in Idiom 23, Thylazine, Otoliths, foam:e, 1001 nights cast, Papertiger 5/6, Famous Reporter, and Radio

Two poems from her Wetland Sonnets sequence won prestigious Australian poetry prizes – Grasslands won the 2004 Leichhardt New Media Poetry Prize, and Shoalwater received joint second for New Media in the 2004 Newcastle Poetry Prize. Her essay on this work appears in James Stuart’s The Material Poem.
Kristin read at the 2007 Brisbane Writers’ Festival, while in 2006 she was selected to attend the Varuna Longlines Poetry program for regional writers.
